This song isn't a song that is stuck in my head but its a song that has a very particular effect on me. Every time I listen to "A Thousand Years Part 2" by Christina Perri, I start crying. I'm not talking about "eyes-getting-teary" crying, I'm talking about "on-the-verge-of-balling" crying. AND I DON'T KNOW WHY! It doesn't matter how many times I listen to it, the same thing happens. The intro piano starts and I start to get a lump in my throat, a tinge in my heart and then tears start falling. Then just when I think I'm done crying, the end comes and I start crying again. I can't ever remember listening to a song that makes me feel this strongly. I do not have the same reaction to the original "A Thousand Years" song by Christina Perri, even though they sound extremely similar, I don't start crying when I listen to that song. For those of you who don't know, "A Thousand Years Part 2" is the song that is played at the end of Breaking Dawn: Part 2, or what I like to call, the end of Twilight. I am not ashamed to say that I saw this movie 3 times in the theaters and each time it came to the end and as soon as this song started to play I started crying. When I was watching the movie I know that I was crying because it was the end. It was the end of the story, its over. But now, even when I hear the song without the movie I still start crying. Maybe it's because my mind has been trained to start to crying when I hear this song? Or maybe it's because the lyrics and the song make it extremely beautiful and touching? I may never know. But I thought I would share it with you.

So I was listening to Christmas music the other day when I realized that most of the ones I preferred to listen to are the older ones. Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin, I could go on but you get the idea. There is just something about the older "style" Christmas songs that I can't get enough of. Maybe its because those were the ones I remember listening to growing up or the Christmas nowadays is just to "pop-y"? Either way I'm glad that there are still songs by these artists still on the Christmas radio stations and hopefully they always are. Last year my favorite Christmas song was "Baby It's Cold Outside" . This year.... hmmm. Well I'll think about that and get back to you ; )

HELLO AGAIN! Hi sorry I haven't been keeping up with this. I was thinking about this song the other day and wandered why not many people even know about it so I thought I would share it you and if you like it, please pass it on : ) ."Give A Little" by Hanson (YES, Hanson)
Ok, so I have obviously failed at trying to come up with a song every week and I apologize for those of you who look forward to seeing what my "Song of the Week" was going to be each week. But hopefully, instead of feeling rushed in trying to find a song every week, I can spend more time looking for new songs that have really grabbed my ear or older songs that mean a lot to me.
But for one last time here is the song of this week
March 23, 2012
The first time I heard this song, I was watching the video on YouTube and I thought it was just another teeny bopper song that came from a big movie. The second time I heard it, I was at work, it was on the radio and it moved me. I literally felt like it gave my heart a little nudge. It made me want to just get in my car, run up to my amazing boyfriend and hold him and never let go. So I suggest just listening to the song first, then maybe watch the video. The video is neat as well. The song is "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri.March 2nd, 2012
I've heard this songs a couple times and only thought "hey the beginning sounds like a song from Titanic" but, I heard it again while driving in my car and I've decided that I really like it. "Breathe Again" by Sara Bareilles. I couldn't find an actually music video but this one will do I guess. The music quality isn't the greatest, the sound is so much better from the CD than this video. Hope you like it.

So I'm a little late again this week and I complete missed last weeks, my bad. This weeks song just came to me today. At my 2nd job I have to call random numbers to ask people to participate in health surveys. One of them was a gentleman who when I introduced myself as Emily. He said that he has had that song in his head all morning. He told me after the phone call to look up the song and to try and find it sung by Andy Williams. Thank goodness for YouTube! Here you go, "Emily" Sung by Andy Williams.February 3rd, 2012
So this weeks song has to kind of due with next week and also it gets harder and harder to get up and go to work in the morning. Since I'll start my 2nd job on Monday I thought that the song for the week will be "Bang the Drum All Day" by Todd Rundgren. Sorry there is no video link but I couldn't find any that I like.January 27th, 2012
Wow really behind this week sorry. I think I probably forgot because I told myself I knew what song I was going to pick this week at the beginning of the week that I forgot to post it on Friday. The song for the week is "Lullaby" by Shawn Mullins. Everything is going to be all right :)

Ok, sorry I know I'm a day late, sorry. I needed to find a song but I really wasn't sure which one to use. So in the spirit of getting up and exercising I thought I would use a song that makes me want to get up and dance :). This week's song is "Jump" by Kris Kross . Enjoy!

I didn't really have a song for this week, it felt like all the music I listened to this week just wasn't right. But after revisiting the moment that I experienced the other I think this song will fit. It is "Hallelujah" the Kate Voegele version is my favorite so far. I haven't been able to find it on a CD but I have found it on YouTube and I watch/listen to it all the time.

For this week, the Song of the Week is the first song that I hear when I woke in 2012. I was sitting at the kitchen table getting ready to make breakfast and I turned on my Pandora radio and the first song that came on was "Uncharted" by Sara Bareilles. It's a great song, not only is it uplifting but the lyrics are great too. What I take away from the song is there are certain things in life that you can't prepare for. You just have to go through some waters "uncharted." So if you haven't heard it before and you feel like you're a little lost, you should listen to it. Maybe it will help give you strength to brave the uncertain things in life.

Ok so for this week I wasn't really prepared for "Song of the Week" this week because I was spending time hanging out with my sister. But I feel like I should come up with something. In honor of my sister I've decided that the song this week will be "I'm Alright" by Jo Dee Messina. I choose this song for several reasons. When we ever go out to karaoke together we usually end up singing this song together, well the chorus anyway. She claims that she doesn't know the versus well enough to sing them, so I always end up singing them. I also chose this song because even though our lives may take us half across the country or kick us down, as long as we keep the people we love in our hearts and remember the things in life that make it sweet, we will all be alright.
Stay tuned for the first and last "Song of the Week" for 2011 :)
